Oct 12, 2008 - News from Japan. "Porsche is claiming the GT-R that did 7:29 was not stock. They bought GT-R in US for benchmark and ran on the ring. The best run was 7:54 while 911 Turbo did 7:38 and GT2 was 7:34. They suspect Nissan put semi-slick tires for the time. Nissan is denying the claim and insisting the GT-R was stock and a Japanese publisher's video as evidence. Nissan commented they are willing to offer advice for Porsche to max out GT-R's performance."

Oct 15, 2008 - all i can say is,what a machine!!!

tcy148 Says:

Oct 16, 2008 - Can i point out that this video clearly shows Nissan DID cheat in the lap time. At the start, you notice they start timing immediatly before the left turn. Yet they stop the timing immediately after the final right turn where there is still a good 300 yards straight! Still... even at probably 7.35, that still would have been f**king fast and still have beaten the 911.

Oct 16, 2008 - GTR= 3815lbs/480hp/430lb-ft/AWD=7.2 9 911Turbo= 3494lbs/480hp/460lb-ft/AWD=7.4 9 GT2= 3200lbs/530hp/505lb-ft/RWD=7.3 1 CGT= ?/605hp/435lb-ft/RWD=7.28 I think the GTR is a brilliant car and i would have one any day BUT How do you convert the math into laptimes? Only thing i can think is that car had more than standard hp, or it was running slicks. I dont know. Same story on cars like the F430Scuderia. Maybe somebody can explain this to me? I am no prof, but the physics just dont ad up to me.

tinusnel Says:

Oct 16, 2008 - But, even if it is bec the car has more 150hp more than Nissan claims (why would they do that?) it is probably still the greatest bang for buck car ever made. (handling is obviously amazing too) I just hope the clients will have the same spec as these on the net, otherwise there are going to be a few oopses coming. The other thing is that more and more reliability and warrenty loss bec of t/c issues are surfacing... Time will tell.

dmtr75 Says:

Oct 19, 2008 - No, that's the way the lap time is measured. Not over the whole distance (20,8 km), but leaving out the part of the Nordschleife that's called "T13", ca. 200 m long. Every car maker and magazine does that.

IIIIIJaleIIIII Says:

Oct 21, 2008 - true!!! they approved that the nissan on that test was not stock! it has few changes just for nurburgring...

IIIIIJaleIIIII Says:

Oct 21, 2008 - too bad! that nissan isn't stock...but it is good car...

venomviper32 Says:

Oct 22, 2008 - you need to take the rubber into consideration too. and the gt-r had 550 bhp, thats why it can go from 0-60 in 3.2 in april and 4.1 now for some reason, lower boost. also, it was pretty much ONLY built to beat a 911 turbo (the least track oriented car porsche has ever built) around the most demanding track in the world. buy a porsche, you get wins on the highway, where people tend to drive, luxury, and more quality throughout.

venomviper32 Says:

Oct 22, 2008 - is it just me or are japanese car makers always putting pokemon based clips before laps?! just let us watch the lap!

MetaboKingDPRK Says:

Oct 23, 2008 - According to the news from Japan, Nissan insists 7:29 was achieved in entirely stock GT-R. They even showed the tire they used. One thing I could not find was whether it was base GT-R or V-Spec.

MI6MI5 Says:

Oct 23, 2008 - This is a comfortable 4 seater saloon car and its quicker than Porsche 911... simply staggering.

dasvedas4 Says:

Oct 23, 2008 - It's stock mate.

mactasty21 Says:

Oct 26, 2008 - if you turn the dsc off you void the warranty on the drivetrain and the tranny will blow car isnt close to this fast.....

innpressTV Says:

Oct 28, 2008 - Undougtly, this is the best cat in this Earth! and ZR1 is the WORST SUCK car in this EARTH. and Super funny Style

imabadkid86 Says:

Oct 30, 2008 - Then why did the ZR1 run nearly 12 seconds faster?

innpressTV Says:

Oct 30, 2008 - Excuse me, You don't know the new record of GTR at Nur?

liamjanin Says:

Nov 7, 2008 - anyone know of a better quality video?

SKOSHI7 Says:

Nov 8, 2008 - Undoubtedly (for future refrence) Lol if you press the love button in the GTR it voids the warranty. The transmission sucks ass, breaks often and will cost you 12k+ to repair it without the warranty. ZR1 0-60 3.3 GTR 3.5 ZR1 60-0 96 GTR 98 ZR1 1/4 mile 11.2 at 131mph GTR 11.7 at 116 ZR1 slalom 77mph GTR 74mph Zr1 skidpad 1.069Gs GTR 0.96

SKOSHI7 Says:

Nov 8, 2008 - Actually the 3.2 was with a 1 ft rollout which doesnt count in my book a 0-60 time should start at i dunno maybe 0mph.

SKOSHI7 Says:

Nov 8, 2008 - The new record for the GT-R is 7:29 Cars that finished ahead of the GT-R Porsche Carerra GT 7:28 Ferrari Enzo 7:25.3 Pagani Zonda F 7:24.7 Maserati MC12 7:24.3 ZR-1 7:22.4 Viper SRT-10 ACR 7:22.1

innpressTV Says:

Nov 8, 2008 - Thank you for WRONG reaserch!

venomviper32 Says:

Nov 8, 2008 - the zr1 actually goes through the slalom at "only" 74.7 which puts it near a porsche and edmunds got 1.06 for the zr1 and a 0.93 for the gt-r. close enough, same story when get to driving experience, rwd car with stickshift and actual engine wins.
