112 - the single European emergency number

Added: Oct 14, 2008

Duration: 3:27

With Europeans as likely to spend a vacation in Paris or Budapest as at the seaside in their own country, they need a single emergency number: one that is easily remembered and will quickly put them in touch with the emergency services they need. This single European emergency number is 112. Wherever your travels in the European Union bring you, 112 can be dialed free of charge, from fixed and mobile phones, or from a phone box. 112 is available in all Member States except Bulgaria. The film explains more about how 112 works, why it is important for EU citizens and what the EU is doing to make it work even better http://ec.europa.eu/112

Aug 20, 2009 - This filmclip s just a very little part of what happens when you call 112. What you saw in Driebergn (Utrecht), was nly the emergency-centre which forwards 112-callers to the area they need help.

wickedistheshiz Says:

Feb 13, 2010 - If you call 112 on a cell phone, it would be routed to the 911, but it's freakin slow. I tried once when I witnessed a car crash, and it took at least two minutes just to get routed to 911.

traceyrmj2 Says:

Mar 15, 2010 - Does it cover the rest of Schengen Treaty areas aswell as the EU?
