Dec 3, 2008 - Both Nicholson and Ledger play the Joker two totally different ways. Nicholson played him as a regular villian with comedy. Ledger played him as a scary, mass-murdering psychopath. Nicholson did good, but no where near what Ledger did. Ledger needs an Oscar!

Dec 3, 2008 - They might as well stop making movies with the joker because there is no way anybody can top Heath Ledger's performence.

Dec 4, 2008 - Absolutly, just out of person oppinion (You know the thing everyone is gonna use to disagree with on after I post this comment) I think that if someone idiot somewhere hadn't gone "OMG, LEDGA FTW!" and it wasn't for the media making such a big deal about the new one and all the stuff that went on during, nobody would even second though his preformance. I'm cool with anyone disagreeing with me so don't be ass about it alright?
endlessriver Says:
Dec 4, 2008 - Heath did a marvelous, really creep and realistic (more than Nicholson's Joker) performance, he became the charecter! But on the other hand Jack Nicholson's Joker is more faithful with the original one.

Dec 4, 2008 - If any of u actually read DC comics when u were kids ud remember that DC had "The joker" but sometimes certain different comics of him would portray him differently....Sometimes as a Really comedic role that isnt too sinister and then others where hes completly deranged and psychotic...and others where hes just sinister and practices carefree evil...Nicholsons joker portrayed the comedic joker...Heaths jokers was supposed to be the more deranged and un-hinged version
KiraiToBaka Says:
Dec 4, 2008 - The early comics portrayed the Joker that Heath Ledger emulates, such as the one-shot comic book by DC comics, entitled, "The Killing Joke". Heath Ledger read this and other early comics which focused on the Joker, and modeled his version of the Joker on these.
endlessriver Says:
Dec 4, 2008 - I read it once, actually there really are different versions of the Joker, I like more the psychotic one rather than the one he looks like a clown.
LikaLaruku Says:
Dec 4, 2008 - Personality wise, Ledger is the Modern Age Joker & Nicholson is the Bronze Age Joker, while Romero was the Silver Age Joker. The 90s cartoon with Mark Hamill (reguarded as the ultimate voice of the Joker that MK vs DC imitated well) falls right between Silver & Modern. However, the new Batman RIP Joker (not a movie) is even darker than Ledger's Batman to the point where a movie using that Joker would be rated R for sure. I'm going to miss his purple suit, but his new costume is pretty sexy.
LikaLaruku Says:
Dec 4, 2008 - Read Batman 663, 676, 680, & 681, & you will be in psychotic Joker heaven. He even has a new costume & a really interesting bullet scar on his forehead, Instead of props, he's taken to spitting poisons, using razor blades, snapping necks, & running people over. You might also enjoy Batman Confidential 22 & 23 & Birds of Prey 121-124.
spalderz Says:
Dec 4, 2008 - I know most people like Heath more but I prefer the 1989 Joker. I feel that a 'clown killer' should be silly, crazy and also scary like Jack. To be a mass killer like Heath, one doesn't really have to dress like a joker...but that's totally fine if they want to do it because it comes from different parts of the comic and thus different kind of joker.
Emberoth Says:
Dec 4, 2008 - Heath Ledger is Best!!!
