Battle of the Network Stars - Conrad vs. Kaplan

1976 Battle of the Network Stars; Bob Conrad goes apesh*t over a technical call and has it out for poor old Mr. Kotter, Gabe Kaplan! This is vintage 70's tv at it's best, you know when there was only 3 networks, disco replays, smoking joggers, girls running without bras, and don't forget the insane amount of racist jokes when they were PC.

Mar 20, 2010 - @spudnutsncoffee i know its a little late....b but i dunder but i think i get what your talking about. just like that liberal bitch sarahpalin with what family guy said about her right???

spudnutsncoffee Says:

Mar 20, 2010 - @edridz132 Well, I do not watch Family Guy, so I am not sure what you mean. That said, I am no fan of Palin. She is an empty shell of a person. Devoid of anything interesting to me whatsoever. The only reason she has anyones attention is because of her screwed up family, the goofy names she gave her kids and the fact that she looks hot. That's it. She is less qualified than the community organizer/house painter in the currently occupying the White House.

Mar 20, 2010 - @spudnutsncoffee sorry little drunk earlier... dont know what dunder is.... anyways what happened in the episode was there was a girl with downs syndrome and at once point they asked her what her parents did. she said my mother is the former govenor of alaska....so palin wants that episode pulled and never played agian. so thats what i ment.....its both sides that complain...both sides idea of living free is living they way THEY want everyone to live.

Mar 30, 2010 - @anakina1 I agree with your comment. I faintly remember BOTNS because I was too young. It's wild to see all these big hollywood stars come together.

MrAlexKeaton Says:

Mar 31, 2010 - You know, as I'm watching this, it might sound crazy, but I think Bob Conrad is trying to make an impression on Farrah Fawcett/the other women there. Look @ 5:40. He's trying to be "the man."

FLTlingit Says:

Apr 15, 2010 - Classic 70's TV!

ainsleyshalo77 Says:

Apr 17, 2010 - notice how many of the competing network stars are openly smoking (Telly, Robert Conrad, that dude that played Ralph Malph i forget his name)

TownsendAgencyHQ Says:

Apr 17, 2010 - Awesome! Thanks so much for posting this. (Farrah Fawcett and Wonder Woman @ 2:10 - amazing!)

TownsendAgencyHQ Says:

Apr 17, 2010 - Oops... make that 7:00. The whole thing is cool though!

drewwestinghouse Says:

Apr 22, 2010 - Robert Conrad...smokem if you gotem.

kmdiver911 Says:

Apr 23, 2010 - robert conrad is such an ass

NemeanLion Says:

May 8, 2010 - Lol, Robert Conrad is such a child. I bet he's the type that would get mad at his kids for beating him in Chutes and Ladders.

goomannc Says:

May 8, 2010 - Hard to believe people used to watch this but, television has changed so, so much. Don't think this would be very popular show today. TV Stars were household names back then. You knew what network, what, show, what night and what time. Now it's like who is that and it's likely they are on faux reality show on some network you never watch.

GBev2K Says:

May 9, 2010 - The best part is Richard Hatch coming in near the end and proving that he really IS a good actor...

meggerhatter Says:

May 15, 2010 - I guess this "traumatic" event put Bob Conrad into a massive depression, followed by years of alcohol abuse. An actor, living in LA in the 70's (before Mexico moved in and ruined in), money, all the tail he could pump, was derailed because of this gay little race. Sad... Sad effects of short man syndrome -

wordup1 Says:

May 23, 2010 - man, my sisters and I used to watch this like it was the best thing in the world!!

smerd70 Says:

May 25, 2010 - I miss these shows, any 70's show. So much better than the crap on TV today.

berezin99 Says:

May 26, 2010 - I used to play softball against guys like Tele Savalas and Robert Conrad. You know the type eh? They protest over every call, and try to make every game like its game 7 or the World Series. Like get a life!

berezin99 Says:

May 26, 2010 - Its funny seeing Kotter and Richie and Wonder Woman all arguing over a race.

1970sFeel Says:

May 29, 2010 - I am so embarresed for these adults. Especially Robert Conrad, get over it. It's not going to make and break you.

ritter89 Says:

Jun 20, 2010 - I loved watching this as kid. Back then it seemed to me like the entire pool of celebrities/networks was smaller and more intimate, almost like a "family". Even older personalities like Cosell were popular w/ kids as well as grandmothers b/c we were all experiencing the same media and therefore had the same pop culture references. Is all that gone now or am I just waxing nostalgic? The web has supposedly made the world smaller but sometimes I feel like it's made it bigger and less personal.

flenif2247 Says:

Jul 7, 2010 - I love this old clip that shows Farrah fighting against an injustice...because that was a definite thread in that ran through her core. It was a streak in her nature to rail against injustice. She was no pushover. Love her. God rest her soul.

forbesmh Says:

Jul 7, 2010 - what's all the hullabaloo?

171view Says:

Jul 12, 2010 - Bob, it's just a fucking race!

dawgpound550 Says:

Jul 18, 2010 - i see posts where people say "who cares its just a race", but you have to remember back then, there were only 3 big networks and this was always a competition to see who the best network was. these stars had a personal connection to their network, not like today. i admit conrad was an ass, but anybody who has competed, whether in a rec or pro league wants to win, even if in the end it doesnt mean anything other than bragging rights. i loved this show as a kid.....
