The concept behind this: this word problem would look absolutely ridiculous if it was reenacted in real life. Mission accomplished. This is an actual homework problem from my Physics book. Special thanks to Olivia in my Physics class for pointing out how stupid this world problem actually is. Music by Count Basie and the Mills Brothers - "Gentle on My Mind."

Nov 30, 2008 - hilarious! I ALWAYS get questions like this. I always wonder why some people would be such nerds and choose to measure some shit at the zoo or something. We just got a Physics question that was like: You are an agent at the top of a bridge. The top of a flatbed truck is coming at you at x m/s and is 73 poles away. The poles are 25 m apart.Calculate how many poles away the truck is from you that you should jump so that you land directly on the truck. The bridge is 10 m off the ground.

Dec 2, 2008 - What a pointless question!
fatwhiteninjaJr Says:
Dec 2, 2008 - Depends on how long the truck is, then the is a different amount of time you can jump, to account for human reaction time and initial fear. give that as an answer, you will get marked wrong, but if enough people do it, the education system will be revolutionised.

Dec 2, 2008 - I am taking physics, AP, it is really hard. But I am still passing. It will look very different from under water than outside obviously.

Dec 3, 2008 - haha this problem is redic
SynX6661 Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - it'll probably look wavy, and out of place. (i'm only 15, so don't start talking shit about how "im a retard and i have no idea what i'm talking about", because it's pointless)
Magesa Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - And physics books are always trying to show how they relate to real life!! LOL It makes me wonder whether this is exactly the kind of reaction they want... they must be bored, the people who write physics books.
Scottthebot Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - Physics books authors are all a bunch of potential murderers.
redsox4415 Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - theres physics for you.
redsox4415 Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - Yeah, it will look wavy from the ripples of the water. That is absolutely coorect, I hadn't thought about that.
redsox4415 Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - Ha, it's true, my physics teacher has been charged with assult and battery three times. Makes you think why he is still teaching.
seabury Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - I wish haha! My teacher has a mild sense of humour and would probably have enjoyed it if I wrote something like that.
SimplySpoons Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - YOU ARE A RETARD AND yoU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT SNYX6661
