smokesometea Says:
Nov 23, 2008 - I think it is a Ibanez Musician or ST100, It's guitar which is used a lot in the late 70's by jazz/fusion acts.

Nov 29, 2008 - "i can not believe some people can relate this to elevator music. c'mon are you serious? herbrie hancock, dave holland, pat metheny & jack dejohnette have never created "elevator music" collectively or in any solo setting." It his similarities to smooth jazz. Not saying I don't like it, and the musicianship is farrr better than "elevator music". But there are definitely similarities: i.e. the back beat (one TWO three FOUR), the guitar tone, etc...

Dec 1, 2008 - me too, his guitar looks so strange :o
woofiny Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - The back beat of "One, TWO, three, FOUR" is not elevator style. It's used in many, many rock and jazz beats. (I just forget which of the two).
tommykn0cker Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - i guess they just passed it through a "chorus"-effect.
dasiccseason Says:
Dec 3, 2008 - nooo....you didn't say that. I'm going to pretend you didn't say that.
iwssonb Says:
Dec 4, 2008 - hahaha. funny you say it's closely related to smooth jazz. I've talked with Pat's brother the trumpet player (Mike) who told me Pat went off on Kenny G about his smooth jazz shit. But you are right this is not elevator shit.
GiantSteps92 Says:
Dec 5, 2008 - Yeah, I can see where he gets the smooth jazz thing but the soloing is so perfect from both herbie and pat that its far from smooth jazz. Not to mention the rhythm is far more intense.
Syllerud Says:
Nov 22, 2008 - which one of them is herbie?
