Sep 22, 2008 - There's no such thing as an "anime" style in Japan. Especially considering the word anime in Japanese is more of a general term than one specifically for Japanese animation.

Sep 23, 2008 - wow, what's interesting to me isn't that this is a really weird cartoon, that's to be expected, but that to some people at a certain time and place this WASN'T really weird. the differences in sensibility between me and the creators and intended audience for this cartoon must be huge. and that's damn interesting to me.

Oct 1, 2008 - Looks very similar to the first Walt Disney Mickey Mouse in 1928. Because they all seems to shake their legs a bit.

Oct 2, 2008 - I noticed a few interesting things about this cartoon... First there's a part where traditional music is played on a guitar. Second, the story gives the impression to be based on a Nô theatre piece. Third, I can't shake the impression it's a "Chinese ghost story" avant la lettre :) In the end the weirdest thing is, that it's drawn very much in the 30's American cartoon style and it's full of anachronisms in the storyline. Very uncharacteristic in my opinion, and therefore special :)

Nov 27, 2008 - Strangely enough, Toho the people who made the Godzilla movies made this little animated short. It has a lot of influence from the Felix the Cat cartoons.
