Nov 3, 2008 - I believe the song is about the various people you come in contact with in society that try to pull you down, keep you from your dreams by telling you you're not good enough or just trying to give you a "reality check," and John's just saying that you get out of life what you put into it and that you can succeed, but it probably won't be easy. I don't really think it's about death, but songs can be open to the listener's interpretation, just like a book or anything else. Excellent song...
