May 1, 2008 - It's like a dream come true. The Duke, The Lion and Billy Taylor, what a threesome. It reminds me when I saw Earl Hines, Eubie Blake and Billy Taylor at the end of the 70's at the Overseas Press Club in NY near the Grand Central Terminal. Thanks

Jul 13, 2008 - Duke Ellington, need I say more! This individauality, broke down, so many barriers, and negative stereotypes, of African Americans. Conducting himself, with dignity, honor, and respect, a brilliant perspective, an outstanding talent, and a touch of blissful class. A phenon, of God given talent. Mr. Duke Ellington

Aug 11, 2008 - Wow! Who would've guessed that THE LION would be here, man?! This is incredible! Duke Ellington's phrasing and chords, Billy Taylor's IMPECKIBLE technique and timing, and Willie's classic cigar and his unique ideas with rhythm. This is truly great. 7/5 stars.

Sep 26, 2008 - perdido thats a pretty hard piece...but its AWESOME

kutari Says:

Oct 7, 2008 - actually, not to be mean or anything. It actually isn't a hard piece at all. Very simple really. You're just listening to these great pianists that can turn such a simple melody into what you heard! :)

KROGERSGROUP Says:

Nov 2, 2008 - im not getting at anyone in any bad way..but if its so easy..how come they are able to make something so simple sound so difficult..may be by knowing what the chord progression is, people may think its so easy..but there is so much more going on inside of these turnarounds besides the major/minor scales. like the diminished..(so important) the music is beautiful... i believe that the black man is a true king. so many world contributions with little respect and recognition.someone cursed us!!

54spiritedwill54 Says:

Nov 5, 2008 - at 1:15 they all seem surprised by the bass and drums coming in..haha

Nov 15, 2008 - Ellington is my god for arranging. He was beautiful. Him and Strayhorn were amazing together. ...and his mother called him Bill is by far one of my favorite albums.
