And most of the time, I learn it by asking her. But look, the nature of the challenges that we're going to face are immense. And one of the things that we know about the presidency is that it's never the challenges that you expect, it's the challenges that you don't that end up consuming most of your time. But here's what I do know. I know that I wouldn't be standing here if it weren't for the fact that this country gave me opportunity. You know, I came from very modest means. I had a single mom, and my grandparents raised me, and it was because of the help of scholarships and my grandmother scrimping on things that, you know, she might have wanted to purchase, and my mom at one point getting food stamps in order for us to put food on the table. Despite all that, I was able to go to the best schools on Earth. I was able to succeed in a way that I could not have succeeded anywhere else in this country. The same is true for Michelle, and I'm sure the same is true for a lot of you. And the question in this election is, are we going to pass on that same American dream to the next generation? Over the last eight years, we've seen that dream diminish. Wages and incomes have gone down. People have lost their health care or are going bankrupt because they get sick. We've got young people who have got the grades and the will and the drive to go to college. But they just don't have the money. And we can't expect that if we do the same things that we've been doing, over the last

murins007 Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - well he did say that there is a lot of things he does not know and that he finds the answer in Michelle... but ,to my mind, this is not so important question... Obama seems a very trustfull person to me... i cannot undestand what can people find positive in McCain??... by the way can you tell me who has the leadership and who brobably will be the next president, or it will be known only on 4th november??
murins007 Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - Barack and Bush??!! ...now this is stupid...
DLC77 Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - Hey... I'm a pro-Obama guy... but... Obama didn't really answer the question either. McCain was just responding to Obama's response when Obama tried to appeal to working-class people instead of answering a question about what he doesn't know and how he's prepared to work towards learning those things. Both of them dodged the question for the most part. McCain said that he didn't know the unexpected... then he goes on to say "i know what it's like etc.". Both dodged it. Obama still wins. :D
PittSteel1979 Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - Sen. McCain had a great response to the question and answered it much more effectively than Obama. I'd be proud to have a good man and solid leader like McCain for President.
AreThereNoMoreNames Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - He never came out and admitted that he didn't know anything. He just said his wife could give a longer list than he could, and went on to go back over his life's story. Obama seems like a trustworthy person, he's a great speaker, but in reality he's lied quite a bit.
AreThereNoMoreNames Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - Like one I was talking to someone else about yesterday, his American uncle liberated Auschwitz. If you don't know where Auschwitz was, it was in Poland. And his American mother was an only child, his father a Kenyan goat farmer. No room for an American uncle on either side to be on the front lines of infantry to liberate anything. He has no leadership, administrative, or executive experience.
AreThereNoMoreNames Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - He kept Bush from talking to foreign leaders on the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. That's not such a bad thing, as interim government in Iraq is not yet ready to take over, and their military is in pretty sad shape last I checked. However, the fact that he does that, and preaches that we need to pull out of Iraq is disgusting. He's just trying to keep everything messed up until he can get into office to fix it.
AreThereNoMoreNames Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - And the other thing. Obama has no executive experience. Neither does McCain. Palin, however, does. She's been in an executive office longer than Obama has had a political career. Obama spent that time voting 'Present' most of the time, and a number of his more controversial votes have been accidents, or so he's said.
AreThereNoMoreNames Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - Obama didn't answer it at all, no. McCain did answer it, and then we went on to counter Obama's spiel. Such is the nature of a debate. And if you believe what Obama said about food stamps, the American dream, and stuff, you'd better check up on your facts.
raidel98 Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - Obama do s'nt know what his doing.Hi is terbel I donn't think that he can be the next president, he wont!!! vote for McCain!!!
More8house Says:
Oct 15, 2008 - I agree he didn't answer the question. I wouldn't change my vote for this non-answer
DLC77 Says:
Oct 15, 2008 - AreThereNoMoreNames made a reply to me, but it was deleted I suppose. He said, in short, that McCain answered the question and Obama didn't after I had said they both didn't. Said I need to "check my facts". Well, my "fact" would be this video. Obama didn't answer it at all. Neither did McCain. McCain said, "I think what I don't know is what all of us don't know, and that's what's going to happen". He later says "we don't know what the unexpected will be".
AreThereNoMoreNames Says:
Oct 15, 2008 - That's what I said, but you're taking it out of context. McCain did a lot better at answering, because he said what he didn't know. The facts I said you should check on is what Obama says. Many of his claims are half-truths, lies, and outright fabrications.
DLC77 Says:
Oct 15, 2008 - So McCain only established that he isn't psychic and can't read the future. And later in his response, like I said before, McCain tried to appeal to the working-class people because Obama wasted his whole response doing that. McCain didn't say "what he didn't know" other than saying he doesn't know "what's going to happen" and the "unexpected". That's not answering the question, that's 1st grade LOGIC! N-o-b-o-d-y knows the unexpected or the future. Both dodged it equally. End of story.
blackownamerica2008 Says:
Oct 15, 2008 - ALL U WHITES R OUT . BLACKS IN. Obama will be serving 2008, and 2012. then again MICHAEL STEELE 2016, AND 2020. All and all this is our country now, u whites are out. Oct 16, 2008 - How did Obama receive enough money to fund a trip around the world? Attend Harvard? He has the nerve to tell the story of the food stamps. Although everyone understands, he was face to face with A WAR VETERAN AND A RELEASED PRISONER OF WAR. Have some perspective Barack.
