Nov 14, 2008 - pear, The song was written for LeAnn Rimes by Diane Warren for the movie CON AIR. It was too pop for the movie producers, who wanted a more country sound. LeAnn refused to re-record the song, so the produced pegged Trisha Yearwood to sing it. They liked her version better, so that's why her version is in the movie.

Nov 14, 2008 - Your comment on the most part makes a lot of sense. But there is an exception to this rule about age=more experience=better to interpret the meaning of this song. The exception is LeAnn Rimes. Not only does she rip the song with her vocals, she delivers the song lyrically word for word, dESPITE her age. Thirty million people can't be wrong(Rimes version outsold Yearwood's version by that many people.)

Nov 14, 2008 - Whitney Houston. "I Will Always Love You," written by Dolly Parton. But the world knows whose version? Dolly who?

Nov 18, 2008 - Yearwood and Rimes were both up for the Grammy for this song. Trisha won it. I think that says it all.
yulelovethebeats Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - But in the court of public opinion, Rimes's version outsold Yearwood's by millions. AND, hold the present day record of being in Billboard 100, 69 weeks.
everokie Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - A lot of records sell a lot but that doesn't make them good.
yulelovethebeats Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - The facts speak for themselves. Thirty million people believe that LeAnn Rimes's version is a good record. That might not mean anything to you or someone else, BUT the fact that it is the ONLY record in history to be on the Billboard 100 for 69 speaks VOLUMES. Whether you personally like Yearwood's version better, that is up to you; it is a good record. However, to deny that Rimes's version is not a good record because it did not win a Grammy, is preposterous.

Nov 19, 2008 - conair is a great movie
KBYTE1650 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Take heart viewer, no one can deny the spectacular voice of Leann Rimes nor her splendid performance of this song, it's just that Trishas voice has a certain appealingly yearnful quality that happens to be particularly suited to this song...thats all.
yulelovethebeats Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - Listen, Rimes's version could have been used in the movie. It IS that good. The producer's probably wanted an older woman singing the song because it was more apropos. Rimes's version is more popular, and Yearwood's more country, and each have been recognized for their individual merits. I happen to like Rimes's better.

Nov 23, 2008 - I love Con Air, I love the way this song is used in it. Although I do like LeAnn Rimes' version too, I think the tone and Yearwood's voice fits the film better. The lyrics are beautiful.
