Aug 18, 2008 - would buy it
ericbellend Says:
Aug 19, 2008 - Yankee432, imho: i don't think they will bring a car out! all the money is being made with the promise, not the product. take a look at a post on here from 'hetanos' and keep in mind that whenever you read about this car it's always coming out NEXT YEAR!!!!! That said however, i would like to have a play with one.

Aug 19, 2008 - the only way congress would allow this to replace gasoline cars, is if they could tax air. They would lose way too much money in tax revenue (over 40c per gallon) and don't even think about them cutting costs. its sad, because stuff like this is what we need.
cuzz63 Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - The technology to compress a gas to that kind of pressure is already proven and it doesnt take that much energy. Go to a place that fills firefighters SCBA tanks and you will see it happening. I am pretty sure tho that the compressor will cost more than the car.
cokie58 Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Maybe, an MaxAir compressor capable of filling a 19 liter cylinder to 4000psi cost around $3400 and takes 22 minutes. But it's not a question of pressurization but thermodynamics. 340 liters of air at 4350 psi equates to 10.9 MJ of stored energy(and not even usable energy, which is another equation altogether and will always be considerably less). This is equivalent to only 0.3 liters of gasoline. Barring a repeal of the laws of physics, I'm pretty certain that MDI is blowng smoke.

Aug 21, 2008 - I don't mind the loud noise! I would know that my car is running on something, not just drifting down the road.
lighthammar Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - good on ya mate. I don't like the odds of gov't's allowing it, but good luck
fizzguts Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - It's really good to see some one doing the numbers. Thanks for taking the time. I did swept engine volume vs tank volume at STP rpm at road speed and it would run at 100% for about 20km. Real world of course is less and the MDI site since removed had numbers of about 40kph for 12km. Whee! MDI have "Licensed" the production to hopeful innumerates everywhere including Australia. The local mob are looking for "sophisticated"investors. This to get round financial act rules. fool and his money.
tejavia Says:
Aug 22, 2008 - I'll order 1000 !
avcomth Says:
Aug 22, 2008 - Considering the overall weight to energy output ratio of compressed air engines. I doubt that such engines would be able to produce enough torque for commercial freight vehicles. That is you're going to be in a dilemma between depleting the air in a very short time for it to be useful for long range transport, or having to fit the vehicle with very large air tank units (that would take away your space) that would've to be compressed under dangerously high pressure.
McLovinMcNugget Says:
Aug 22, 2008 - the solution to gas is here. hybrids should be gone. same with electric cars. barack obama should support this car. ill turn 18 in 3 years and ill want 1 of those for $6,000.00
ericbellend Says:
Aug 22, 2008 - McLovinMcNugget i think you'll find this car is McBollox. imho, you'll be an old man by the time you get one
FASHiiONCHiiCKx Says:
Aug 24, 2008 - "MDI plan to have these on sale by next year..." So this was added December 2006--these things are on sale? Hmmm?
canbor Says:
Aug 25, 2008 - i know it hurts and what hurts, make you angry but fossil fuel rules...

Aug 25, 2008 - How To Make It toy car
happy0ninja Says:
Aug 25, 2008 - petroleum is used best as a lubericant, not a fuel. It is ineffecient and burns dirty. It does not "rule" anything but politicians.
canbor Says:
Aug 26, 2008 - petroleum isnt ineffecient engines are ineffecient.so what shall we use instead of petrolleum?
happy0ninja Says:
Aug 26, 2008 - Hydrogen. far more explosive. Or revert to steam power. both work quite well.
tonymontanas357 Says:
Aug 27, 2008 - How the car can run on the street without having passed any stantards?? It s made with plastic!! Furthermore, how the tank air can be refilled with a compressor of this size?? just rubbish..
Aglon44 Says:
Aug 27, 2008 - Yes it is a rubbish car and it will never pass safety standards in Europe and USA.
DomeliteComics Says:
Aug 27, 2008 - I look forward to purchasing one of these cars! This will be great for city driving and just getting to work and back. This is far better and more economical than the smart cars that we currently have on the roads! They will be made to be more Americanized by the time they get to the U.S.A. that should not even be a concern. European and United States vehicles are always different in ways more than just the side of the drivers wheel. Do more research on these. Fossil Fuels are for collectors.
lerlo Says:
Aug 27, 2008 - Its been more than 2 years? Where are the cars. The thing is the governments arent allowing them to release their cars. Why? Someone should really ask the question. Truth is, petroleum runs the world's economy. Big Oil have so much influence that they can do anything. And who benefits, damn Dubai, fueling their rediculous lifestyles and land reclaimation stunts when they have loads of unused land. This world makes no damn sense.
cokie58 Says:
Aug 28, 2008 - Actually, MDI HAS been around for over 14 years making outrageous claims and forever announcing that their poduct is coming out "next year". In the meantime they're getting thounds of gullible greenies to fork over good money for phantom dealerships, advance paymens for non-existent vehicles, and worthless stock. They're a sham. But don't let that interfer with your irrational hatred of the people who work to bring us our energy.
cokie58 Says:
Aug 28, 2008 - Look at an energy density chart and tell me oil doesn't "rule". I'm getting goddamn fed up with people who don't know a BTU from a snickers bar spouting off such inane luddite nonsense. Oil "rules" because we get such an insane return of energy for the energy we invest getting it. The only greater return is from nuclear power. Oil also "rules" because we're awash in the stuff. The utter stupidity of these posts is proof that our education system is broken beyond repair.
yankee432 Says:
Aug 18, 2008 - i think because they don't have final version yet
