Edward Burtynsky is a Canadian photographer who takes pictures of landscapes. But not trees, and lakes. He takes pictures of industrial sites and factories. His work was featured in an amazing documentary called 'Manufactured Landscapes.' It won best Canadian feature film at the Toronto international film fest.

On one hand it's impressive the influence that industry can have on the planet, and I think it's awe-inducing, the power of economic activity. On the other hand the social and ecological impact of it is just... apalling. So it's like as a human it makes you both proud and embarassed of modern industrial society at the same time.
