The device features a 30-inch table-like display that consumers operate via hand gestures or by placing physical objects on the computer's surface. Microsoft officials say Surface, the company's first device in its new category of surface computing products, is designed to simplify a user's interaction with digital content such as photos and music. The device was unveiled May 30 during the Wall Street Journal's D: All Things Digital Conference. Don't forget to visit http://www.experiencemobility.com

Oct 12, 2008 - what a ridiculously pointless thing... it takes tasks that would take seconds on a normal computer and makes them slower to deal with (like photos) and then it provides you with childish paint and puzzle features that serve no real purpose... Can i run word? photoshop? illustrator? i think it woud be great at the bar to order drinks but i cant see this technology in the home... also... i dont want that ugly thing taking up half my living room..

Oct 14, 2008 - Viewing and manipulating architectural drawings and plans, electrical and electronic schematics, mathematical text and maps/aerial images on this would be grand. And the immediate uploading and manipulation of pics from your camera, especially into large scale hi-definition images, also shows distinct promise. The interactive menus and board game possibilities for something that's also a table, as in restaurants and waiting rooms, is impressive. And board games and casino games would be amazing!

Nov 21, 2008 - I love the new tech, but I disagree with Bill Gates doing the presentation. Nothing against Uncle Bill, the resource hungry Microsoft dominated PC market has given rise to a great increase in PC tech as a whole, and for that I am thankful, lol. My reason should be rather obvious, lol, the man is not a good presenter, he did not design or conceive the technology, nor is he even in the target demographic, lol. But in regard to the tech ... excuse me, I need to go find a towel.
