The residents are told not to venture into the woods for there are "those we do not speak of", which are essentially monsters that live in the forest. The film basically revolves around "those we do not speak of" apparently entering the village after one man steals a berry which is of "the bad color", which is red. Then it's essentially a fight for both truth and survival.
