Nov 6, 2008 - I am a captain...... THE SEA IS A MY LIFE..... FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! BUT WITCH COMPANY IS A TUG.???
ramseyboater Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - Sorry - no it isn't, it's Flandre. Bourbon is new, a rounded bridge superstructure, different deck configuration and has French colours on the side. Trust me, I know what the ships I work on look like! Try searching for Abeille Bourbon on here and you'll see the difference.

Nov 17, 2008 - wich company is this tug from? It looks a bit like smit
rlthestig Says:
Nov 17, 2008 - Some Questions please. 1st. Was this tug in danger? I mean why were the helos there? Can it handle seas like that without a problem? 2nd. How does a person end up working on an Ocean Going Tug? Do you need to attend a special school? Sorry if my questions are dumb. Just wanted to know and I know no one that does this kind of work. Great Video.

Nov 18, 2008 - Guess it was a test run and they wanted a steady platform to film from. You don“t often see a boat charge the waves at that speed, so my guess is that they are showing off. Working: You need a skill they can use, and it is a good thing not to get seasick... Good luck!
hebbelille2003 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Adiemus is the name of both the song and the group.
klesmer Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Thanks. Do you know if there is any historic or cultural context to the song?
ramseyboater Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - To answer a few points : The company is Les Abeille, the search and rescue division of Groupe Bourbon. The ship wasn't in danger, it was till recently the guard vessel for the French coast based at Brest. The conditions shown are pretty normal for winter off Ushant. The helos were filming for a tv prog about the vessel, and the helo in shot is a French aircraft practising rescue techniques.
ramseyboater Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - Answer the second point, the crew are seasoned sailors, ex fishermen, and mariners (plus a damn fine chef). The work she does is fairly normal for offshore tugs / rig support vessels. Yes, it does take a bit of experience, and there are times when even we don't manage to keep breakfast down...
ramseyboater Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - No, it wasn't a test run - it was a call to a tanker in the traffic seperation zone off Ouissant, the tanker having lost all power and drifting.
Nowakbernd Says:
