READ MORE @ http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/Followup/articleId=123327 Ford doesn't build Mustangs to fly. That was true back in 1968 when Steve McQueen sent a GT 390 soaring over the hills of San Francisco in Bullitt. And it's true of the new 315-horsepower 2008 Mustang Bullitt.

Oct 11, 2008 - If you care about a car extending the length of your penis and speed to compensate your ego..fine nitpick on the mustang and get something to race in nascar.. I like the car because of the look and the feel of it and to drive. not for speed....its all a matter of opinion..

Oct 12, 2008 - So it's slower and doesn't handle as good as the regular GT. The Std GT (5M) did 5.1 to 60 and ran 13.7 @ 103.6 & pulled 0.87G on the skidpad in one of the magazines I have. I know there are alot of variables... Track Condition, Temp/Humidity, Driver ability ect ect.
akman189 Says:
Oct 13, 2008 - i agree with selitham

Oct 13, 2008 - THIS IS ACCORDING TO WIKIPEDIA: "The first factory Mustang open-element air filter, unique exhaust that mimics the sound of Steve McQueen's GT390 and ends in 3.5" tips, and new engine programing raise horsepower to 315 (up from 300). A Tremec 5-speed manual and 3.73:1 ratio live rear axel drops 0-60 times to 4.9 - 5.0 seconds compared to the standard GT's 5.2-5.3 seconds, and quarter miles come in 13.8 seconds at 102mph" SO I think Edmunds made it slowerduring the 0-60 MPH acceleration test.
theshark2517 Says:
Oct 21, 2008 - The difference is that with the open air cold air intake it increases the horsepower to 315 on regular fuel. thats 15 over the stock GT. Then if you run premium fuel you can get a horsepower rating at about 320-325. Then with the 3:73 gears in the back its way better than a GT.

Nov 6, 2008 - which is why they made the bullitt lol.. so its good at what its for
RoganSF Says:
Nov 7, 2008 - ha ha. only changing fuel CANT give 10hp gains you stupid ricer. ha ha, you have to have the motor accept the difference that the higher octane offers to gain those. cant just throw it in their and gain hp... if anything, with just changin fuel it would probly run worse. you have to change things to accompany the higher octane. but either way. i love modded cars. so i dont hate mustangs, im just saying.
CJDUBstang Says:
Nov 7, 2008 - 5.2s? you suck Inside line. The 2005 GT was a flat 5.0s car.
theshark2517 Says:
Nov 8, 2008 - Dude dont be calling me a stupid ricer you dont even know what i drive. I have a 2008 mustang Shelby GT500 and a 2003 Ford lightning both can smoke the shit out of whatever you got so shut ur mouth.
atvman400 Says:
Nov 8, 2008 - Pay very close attention to this, I'm only going to type it once. Most cars today have knock sensors. When you add a higher octane fuel, they can sense it and the car knows to advance the timing. This is why on some cars, power can be increased by adding premium fuel. In fact, a lot of cars that call for premium work in the opposite way, when you use 87 octane, the spark gets retarded by a few degrees and the car loses power, but the engine runs fine.
GT500SVT Says:
RICK AND SVT
feddysnatcher Says:
Nov 14, 2008 - Your a joke, Yank. European cars will always remind you how inadequate your cars are. A pathetic attempt to be called a sports car. American cars are fast only on the straights but are prehistoric in handling. Again PATHETIC!
sterlingnobles Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - still slow compared to my old G
gto0610 Says:
Nov 23, 2008 - i like the mustangs better but the camaro will dust the hell out of a gt. I used to have a 05 gt 5 speed and the best i did bone stock with some falken 452 tires was 13.4 1/4 mile and my friend on his stock z28 with slicks run like mid 12s bone stock. but camaros are ugly i like mustangs.
daniel60 Says:
Dec 5, 2008 - RoganSF that is what Ford says if you want more power and that is to switch to the higher octane. Either way looks like that Bullitt is a winner on styling and performance.
Haryazz Says:
Oct 9, 2008 - How can you give the Skid pad a D grade ? I ask this because the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI is a 0.9 and the stang is not far off. Its a mustang not a GT2. o-60=B 1/4 mile=B Slalom=C Skidpad=B 60-0=F and we don't drive corvettes because I'm not 60.
