Some weird "slavonic metal" stuff from Russia. This song comes from the band's first EP, "Otchizna". The band is also known as "Northern Gates" The stock-shots are taken from the 1938 movie "Aleksandr Nevskiy" (which is also the nickname of the vocalist) by Sergei Eisenstein. An attempt to translate the lyrics in english. Fell free to suggest any corrections :) *** The Gloomy River Sorrow has spilled in a large river Onto our native land Shedding tears about the sons That lie in the moist soil The crow moves in circles, drunken by blood He saw a slashing battle He saw how the damask sword Crushed the foreign warrior-host Oh wind, take to the sky These mothers' bitter cry Let Kruchina hear the call And allay the sorrow The warrior has chosen the wolf's fate Taking death for other's life If he celebrated Trizna sacredly Svarog will accept him in Iriy's paradise *** Notes : Kruchina ans Svarog are slavic gods (respectively the goddess of sorrow and the god of the sun and fire) Trizna is a funeral ceremony Iriy is the paradise See google & wiki for more details ;)
